Thank you Seth!

Dear Friends,

As we continue to reflect on another harmonious summer at Camps Newfound and Owatonna, we wanted to share some important news with our camp family. Our Executive Director, Seth Johnson, recently informed the Board of Trustees that he plans to retire at the conclusion of the 2026 summer camping season. We are profoundly grateful for Seth’s dedication and 12 years of service to the Camps as our Executive Director. As you may know, Seth and his family have been connected with camp for more than seven decades. Prior to Executive Director, Seth served as a Trustee, as the Owatonna Director in the early 1990s, and as a longtime counselor and camper in his youth. In between, Seth also had a distinguished career in education as an Athletic Director and coach.

Under Seth’s leadership, enrollment has grown across all camp programs, several capital projects have been successfully completed, two all camp reunions have been held, and needed funds have been raised to keep pace with rising costs, all while keeping Christian Science at the core of the camps’ mission and purpose. Seth and the full-time directors have also provided an unprecedented level of continuity and tenure that has served the greater camp community.

The Board of Trustees has commenced a search to identify the next Executive Director. We look forward to engaging with our camp family during this process, and we appreciate your practical and prayerful support. There will be additional communications as we have information to share. And we are knowing that “from strength to strength we go” (Christian Science Hymnal, 65).
