Meet Newfound Director Amy Mizell Henn

Dear Camp Family,
We’re delighted to welcome Amy Mizell Henn as the new Director of Camp Newfound!
For Amy, this is a return to a place that helped shape her life. She served on Newfound’s staff from 2003 to 2006 as a cabin counselor, canoe instructor, and CIT Head. It was at Camp Newfound that she discovered the joy of living and growing in a community grounded in Christian Science.
Since those summers, Amy has built a career helping young people grow in confidence, character, and leadership. An experienced teacher, soccer coach, and mentor, she has worked at Crossroads College Preparatory School in St. Louis, Principia Middle and Upper Schools, and, most recently, at the Summit Atlas Middle School in Seattle. She holds a master’s degree from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a bachelor’s degree from Principia College.
At the heart of Amy’s work is a love for connecting with young people and helping them see the good they have to offer. She brings that same care to her relationships with families and colleagues, along with a leadership approach based in clear communication, encouragement, and trust.
“Being a cabin counselor and a CIT Head at Camp Newfound were the best jobs I’ve ever had,” Amy shares.
Now, she returns with a desire to support that experience for a new generation of campers and staff. As a camp parent herself, Amy has also seen Newfound-Owatonna’s impact through her children’s experiences, deepening her commitment to the camps’ future.
We’re excited for the experience, warmth, and love of Christian Science that Amy brings to this role. Please join us in welcoming Amy and her family—her husband, Steven, and their children, Deacon and Alora—back to Newfound!
With love,
Camps Newfound and Owatonna
