Would you like to learn how to make unique creations out of pine needles? The class covers basic stitches and techniques and is great for both beginners and experienced pine needle artists. We'll start off making a smaller creation to cover some basic techniques. Then we'll use those techniques and additional stitches to create a larger creative piece. You'll have the option to use other natural elements and beads in your creations. Supplies to make the pine needle art are part of a $25 kit, but students should bring sharp scissors and, if available, some jewelry pliers. If you have special elements you would like to include in your creations, bring those as well. Come join the fun and go home with unique creations!

Corie Sue Babcock
Corie Babcock has made over 500 pine needle creations since discovering the art form. Her work has been awarded recognition in art exhibits in both Texas and Arizona. Currently residing in Tucson, Arizona, her work is sold in several art galleries in Southern Arizona. She began her pine needle art journey while looking for ways to use larger stones in her art. She and her husband, John, love to go rock hunting. John has all the lapidary equipment to cut and shape the stones. Some were so beautiful in the natural larger shapes it was a shame to cut them into smaller pieces for jewelry. She saw some larger stone slabs used as the base of pine needle baskets and took a basic class. She fell in love with the process and has expanded her work to include many different bases for her creations. Teaching comes naturally to her–her college major was education. She spent 30 years working as a civilian in the Army's Child and Youth Programs where she taught adults various teaching techniques working with children. Once she retired, she devoted full time to her art.
