COZY
Christina Williams
Bree Hugins

Christina: I have travelled all the way from the hills of Bow, New Hampshire to begin my fifth summer on Long Lake. I will be beginning my freshman year at Principia College in the fall and plan to focus on the performing arts. While at camp, I will be teaching my passion in life, drama.

Bree: Hello! My name is Bree Hugins and I am a new counselor here at Newfound. Although this is my first summer here, I am not a stranger to this wonderful camp life. I was a camper at both A/U and Cedars, and a counselor at Cedars. I just finished my first year in college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in California, studying international relations and political science. In the Fall, I will be embarking on a four month long stay in Alicante, Spain where I will be studying Spanish and the remarkable Spanish culture. I can’t wait to spend these next four weeks with your daughters at this amazing place. Happy summer!

SUNSHINE
Caroline Savoye
Christie Coddington

Caroline: Hi. This is my ninth summer at camp and my first as a counselor on staff. I am so excited to have your daughter at camp this summer! I just finished my junior year at Principia Upper School, and I am excited for next year. During the school year I stay busy playing tennis, doing art, and spending lots of time with friends. This summer I will be on the H-dock, teaching swimming. I look forward to living with and teaching your daughter.

Christie: I am Christie Coddington and I will be taking good care of your daughter for the next few weeks. I am so excited to have a fun summer with our cabin. I just graduated from Principia College with a degree in Mass Communication. I hail from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and may return there after the summer. I am so excited to have fun at camp with the Sunshine campers.

Still Waters
Gwyn Ochs
Melody Stein

Gwyn: Hi! My name is Gweneth Ochs, but my campers will know me as Gwyn. Besides seeing me in the cabin, your girls will find me at the whaler dock if they decide to take sailing. This coming year, I will be a sophomore at Principia College and I am considering a Studio Art major and a Math minor. Drawing has always been a passion of mine, but I also love to sing as well as dance. I have taken jazz, tap, and Lindy Hop (a type of swing dance) in the past and hope to continue learning them. I am looking forward to this summer because more than anything else, I love being with kids. This is my first summer as a counselor, but it is my sixth year at Newfound. I know camp to be a perfect place for encouraging spiritual and moral growth, and I am looking forward to our campers finding that atmosphere here this summer!

Melodie: Hey! I'm Melody, or Ody, since there are two counselors named Mel this summer. I will be a freshman at Principia College this fall. I would like to major in Environmental Science. I absolutely love to spend time in the outdoors and I hope to be a tripper sometime in the future at Newfound. This summer I will be teaching archery, which was my favorite activity as a camper. My favorite sports outside of camp are down hill skiing and martial arts. I can't wait to have a blast helping your daughter grow this summer.

Green Pastures
Ana Luizzi
Sunny Mack

Ana: Hi! I come from Philadelphia, and I am so excited to see your daughter in our cabin. This will be my fourth summer at Newfound. After having a blast as a CIT last year, I wanted to come back for another summer of growth and fun this summer. I will be teaching canoeing, so during the day I can be found out by Shampoo Rock or Hairbrush Island. When I am not at Long Lake, I love to run cross-country, bake cookies with my twin sister, and travel. I am so excited for a summer on the hill!

Sunny: Hello all, and happy gorgeous June! I am Sonora (Sunny) Mack from Conifer, Colorado, and I am so excited to be your daughter's counselor this summer at Newfound. I am currently a junior at Principia College, with a major in Fine Arts. Along with all things artistic, I love the mountains and seaside (or lakeside, for that matter), especially rock climbing. This summer I will be working with your daughter in the Rocks and Ropes program, hoping to help discover new abilities to overcome challenges. This is my first year on the Newfound staff, but life as a camper is not unknown to me: I loved all five years as a camper at Adventure Unlimited in Buena Vista, Colorado. I am looking forward to meeting your daughter and beginning the fun — whether in the cabin or in program time. Thanks for sharing her with us!

Twin Pines
Hilly Charrington
Lucia Rooker

Hilly: Hi! I am Hilly Charrington and I am 17 years old. I am from Radnor, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. This is my first year as a counselor at Newfound, but I have been a camper several other years prior to this year. I have a younger sister who will be a CIT this summer. I am very excited to be a waterskiing counselor. I will be a freshman at Furman University in South Carolina in the Fall, where I am going to double major in Political Science and French. I look forward to having a wonderful summer in Sunshine with your daughter.

Lucia: Hi, my name is Lucia Rooker. I live in St. Louis, but hail from Massachusetts. I am going to be a freshman in college and I am really looking forward to studying my longtime love of Art History. I have played baseball and softball since I was seven. I enjoy lots of different sports, too. I will be teaching kayaking, which I have quickly and wholeheartedly come to love. I am wicked excited to share and grow with your amazing daughter.

L’Amitie
Jenn Bollinger
Julie Ryan

Jenn: Hi. I am 20 years old, and this is my tenth summer coming to camp. I was a camper for eight years and I worked in the kitchen for one summer. I love to run, play soccer, learn about German cars, read different Christian Science articles, talking and spending time with my mom and dad. I am so excited to be at camp — it has always felt like home. Camp is a special place to me because I love to swim so much. I have been called a fish because of that love. So, as you can guess, I will be teaching swimming this summer. I am so excited to spend time with your daughter. God has some memorable times in store for us!

Julie: My name is Julie Ryan and I am loving my first summer at Newfound. I will be teaching Drama. I am a Theatre Arts major and Political Science minor at Principia College. I work at a daycare at home. This Fall I will be a Resident Assistant in one of the freshman dorms at the college. I am so excited to share my love of drama and theatre with the campers. I did not have much exposure to theatre in my small town Texas high school, but I acquired enough to love it! I am looking forward to teaching monologues and scenes that campers can perform at the end of each session. I can't wait to help your daughter grow this summer.

I will be a senior at Principia College where I am majoring in Education and Sociology and on the cross country and lacrosse teams. I have been at camp Kohahna for seven years, but I am looking forward to continuing my first year at Newfound this session. I love this camp because of the diversity of opportunities presented, like collaborating with cabin mates, working on a healing or demonstration through Christian Science, or expecting myself and others to achieve high goals.
