Newfound history
Camp Newfound was founded as a summer camp for girls from Christian Science families in 1915.
Originally located on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire, it was moved to its present site on Long Lake
in 1918, after founder Elizabeth Horton purchased the scenic peninsula sight-unseen through an ad
in The Christian Science Monitor. Needless to say, it was a good decision!
Ninety-two years later, Newfound campers continue to be enchanted by the place they come to think of as their home away from home. They enjoy swimming and boating, walking across a sandbar to explore their own private island, and listening to the gentle sound of lapping water – all just steps away from their cabins. An idyllic backdrop to a summer full of fun, friends, and lifelong memories!
