Giving to Camp

Giving and Receiving:

All of us who know Camp have experienced the brotherly love that "soars and sings" on the shores of Long Lake. Our Camp family includes each one of you, who holds Camp dearly in thought, treasuring the qualities that comprise a Newfound or Owatonna , Family Camp or ASCSA weekend, Creative Arts or Adventure Weekend experience.

Camp provides an environment that nurtures spiritual growth to such an extent that campers and staff, alike, become sturdy beacons of spiritual light in their homes, work, and family lives as well as at Newfound and Owatonna.

How You Can Make a Difference:

Our tuition rates remain moderate because of our By-Law commitment to offer superior but affordable programs that are sustained by the financial support of Camp's extended family and friends, rather than by market-driven tuition fees. In fact, the income from tuition only covers 65% of our annual operating costs.

As a non-profit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees, Newfound/Owatonna depends upon the generous financial support of foundations as well as hundreds of individuals like you. We deeply appreciate your generous gifts over the years. Simply stated, we wouldn't be here today without your faithful love and support.

Four Active Funds:

Capital Fund: The focus of our recent and current fundraising efforts has been our Capital Projects Fund. For the past seven years we have been able to accomplish all that we needed so urgently to do - to renovate and restore our facilities, bring them up to code, make them more efficient - in effect, to meet the needs of today's program instead of tailoring the program to fit yesterday's facilities. The changes have been remarkable! We expect to continue these renovation and rebuilding efforts for several more years. Our contribution to this fund will have an immediate impact on our progress and longevity.

Campership Fund: Campership dollars bring one of the greatest returns for one's investment: a camper attends Camp and remembers it for the rest of his or her life. There are simply no exceptions! The personal growth that takes place when a child is at Camp - independent, learning, stretching, achieving in all aspects of daily life - is unchallenged by other activities because of the uniquely healing Christian Science environment. Each year we raise $90,000+ in campership dollars - and we give away every last penny. Approximately 25%, or seventy-five, of our campers are aid recipients. In effect, all of our campers receive campership aid since your contributions make up the difference between an affordable tuition and the true cost of attending Camp. Your gift to this fund will make a difference in a child's life.

Unrestricted Fund: The Unrestricted Fund enables us to cover our expenses all year long as we improve our facilities and programs, seek, hire, and train qualified staff members, sustain our enrollment numbers, raise funds to meet our annual and special project expenses, and maintain contact with our extended Camp family through newsletters, special events, and our website. Ours is the best kind of work - fulfilling in every way! - and it's sustained largely by your consistent support.

Endowment Fund: Our Endowment Fund is untouched for any purpose other than ensuring the longevity of these two camps. We are striving to establish a moderate endowment that will meet our basic needs - maintaining close to 100 buildings on more than 200 acres of land and waterfront. Logically, the more we keep these facilities up to par, the less money we will need to spend in the future to rebuild or restore them. With your help, we will be able to put our endowment to work to secure these assets for years to come.
