Wood Carving…from wood chips to wonder Apply Now
BONNIE BOWERSeptember 10-16
This old, old form of sculpting is a relaxing, companionable art form which allows participants to create sculpture from wood. The process includes designing, carving, and then painting the finished piece. The repetitive motion of creating a sculpture one wood chip at a time allows time for quiet thought, lively conversation, and the wonder of seeing the object emerge from the wood. There will be a variety of options available for each student from Santa Claus to Southwest art, Northwest masks to folk art objects. Tools, wood, paint, and all you need to complete your project will be provided; but if you are already a wood carver, bring your tools and your ideas, and join the fun, the wood chips, and the wonderful atmosphere of Maine in the early fall!
About Bonnie Bower
Bonnie has been carving and teaching for many years. She has done pieces ranging from 16 foot tall totem poles to tiny figures for nativity sets; her work has shown and sold at art shows in Moab, UT and other locations in the Southwest. Bonnie loves to share her love of carving with anyone who would like to learn this ancient art form. She and her husband, John, recently moved back to Moab after four wonderful years at Newfound and Owatonna. She is excited to be back working on her art and to be able to be part of the art shows available in her area during the year.
