Create one (or more!) finished ceramic art piece for your home or garden! Students of all levels will learn the wonderful art of hand building in clay through daily demonstrations that will cover slab building construction and coil and pinch pots. In addition, several surface design techniques will be explored to introduce texture and color application. There will be discussions about craftsmanship, balance in design, and functionality. Beginners are welcome; no prerequisites are required. Just get ready to roll up your sleeves, learn the joys of working with clay, and discover you own abilities!



About Michele Parsons


Michele Parsons

Michele Parsons graduated from Principia College in 1979 with a BA in studio art and a minor in metalsmithing. Since 1994, Michele has studied ceramics at The Kirkland Arts Center with nationally known ceramic artists. She has taught ceramics to adults and children in Washington schools and at Camp Newfound and Owatonna since 1996. In 2007, she participated in the 4th annual Kirkland Arts Studio Tour and sold her newly created “Urban Potter” ceramics. In 2009, Michele co-managed and opened a new store for Kirkland Arts Center, where she now volunteers and sells her ceramic work. She has recently been accepted as a Resident Ceramic Artist at the Kirkland Arts Center. Michele lives in Kirkland, Washington, with her husband, Tom, and their two children (when they are home from college!).
