Camp Weekends!

Sunday, August 01, 2010

Weekend days at camp typically have a different pace to them.  Saturday mornings at both Newfound and Owatonna begin with a sleep-in. a later breakfast, and a camp clean-up morning by team.  After Quiet Hour and Morning Meeting, the four teams at each camp spread out around the grounds to sweep, organize, wash, and rake.  The trails at Owatonna, the beaches of Newfound, the Lodges, and the courts are all sparkling after Saturday mornings.  Saturday afternoons at Newfound are filled with special club activities:  some of the highlights from yesterday include tie-dying t-shirts, journaling, and playing Quiddich on the tennis courts.  Owatonna Saturday afternoons are filled with team competitions; yesterday the senior division boys played ultimate frisbee and the junior division boys played street hockey.  Much fun was had at both Newfound and Owatonna!

Sunday mornings at both camps bring another sleep in, a casual buffet breakfast, cabin clean-up, and co-ed Sunday School.  With the glorious weather of this summer, Sunday afternoon beach parties have been fabulous.  The boys and the girls join together for swimming, sailing, bumper-tubing, kayaking, tennis, volleyball, ga-ga, and more.  Sundays are wrapped up with "Pits" (outdoor, cook-out dinner) and Cabin Night at each camp.  The campers are having a blast, and we are enjoynig every minute with them!
